• Can you believe the damn nerve of these European colonizers, coming into Africa and messing with history like they owned the place? 'Cause you know good and damn well that's what they did - they waltzed right in with their pasty skin and fancy guns and started changing history all nilly willy.

I'm telling you, Africa had some advanced civilizations back in the day. Did you know about Mansa Musa, the emperor of Mali? This brother was RICH. I mean Donald Trump-level rich. Mansa was rolling through lands flaunting gold like he had Fort Knox in his backyard. And don't even get me started on the Nubians or Great Zimbabwe or the other complex kingdoms that make the history books skip like a scratched CD.

But the colonizers couldn't have those pesky facts ruining their story of Africa as some dark, primitive backwater in need of some racial charity. No, they had to go scorching earth on history and erase all evidence that didn't fit their narrative to justify robbing Africa like it was a Buy One Get One Free sale. Anything shiny, old or familiar was confiscated! Can you imagine a gang of bandits rolling up on your family albums and burning them all because they couldn't cope with your slay? That's exactly what the colonial adminstration did - they snatched the receipts on Africa's rich history and tried to make the continent look busted.

And don't think the colonists weren't thorough, baby. They power-washed history from Cape to Cairo. By the time they were done, Cleopatra and Nefertiti might as well have been two stranded white girls named Becky. AllAfrica's precolonial legends were replaced in the textbooks with a whole bunch of pale imitators. I'm talking generations of students thinking that Africans sat grunting in trees before the white man's magic. If that's not full scale historical slander, I don't know what is!

So that's my take on these alleged "history writers." Last time I checked, burning books and artifacts ain't how the scholarly operate. But I guess for colonists, rewriting history just means destroying the parts your stolen goods-having self don't like. The moral is, don't let any snaggletoothed colonizers try to pull historical amnesia on your accomplishments! Stay woke, my people!
